"I have to tell you, I have been reading all of the negative reviews about the Magic Jack. I can tell you from my personal experience, I haven't had a single problems with the magic Jack at all and it works well for the amount of money I've spent! I think the problem with computer based products is that there are a lot of people that just aren't computer savvy and blame the problems they're having on some flaw with the product. The truth of the matter is, I've read all these comments / negative reviews and interestingly, almost all of them have pages and pages of happy customers like myself standing up for the company. And no, I don't work for them or have any relationship to them other than, I bought their product and it works well for me. Unfortunately for the makers of magicJack, most of the people posting negative reviews are the type I just mentioned. I'm not here to bash people that don't know anything about computers, because obviously there will be people that are brilliant as a doctor, lawyer, etc., but won't know jack about computers. I understand that. I'm talking about the people that just don't know how to follow instructions, don't know why a software firewall would block magicJack or how to troubleshoot their own computer issues by using some common sense or reading comprehension."

"For $20 dollars a year, Magic Jack lets me efficiently receive & make calls. it already replaced my att landline service. And I have a cell phone that practically replaced my house phone in the first place. So if you dont want to pay a lot monthly but don't want to loose your "house" phone this thing is great."

"Serious, I have had the Magic Jack for almost a year.. with NO complaints, enough that I bought my wife's brother a mj as he lives in Australia. Now he can call her, or his brother in Washington DC. So I am definitely happy with the MJ just to use to make local calls, as my wife is on the home phone so often."

"We live in Thailand and travel all over the world for work. Magic Jack allows us to have an Indianapolis number while in Thailand or anywhere else we travel...as we have one unit dedicated to our home here an one that we take with us on the road. Since we have a unit at our Thai that lists as an US number, we can call from Australia, Europe, or China back to Thailand for free. The system thinks it's a call from the US to the US...when in fact we're calling transcontinental. AMAZING product that we've convinced all of our exPat friends to purchase and utilize."

"Let me start out by saying I am the most skeptical person you will ever meet! I recently purchased my first home and where it is located I dont have great cell phone service. Some parts of my house is great, other parts I have to sit up against the window to get service! I contacted my cable carrier to see how much it would be to bundle and add phone on my existing cable/internet package. Of course it was an additional $39.99 and that was for local calling only. As I was thinking about it that's an extra $480.00 a year, not to mention additional charges for long distance. I was prety upset when I heard that. So I thought about the magic jack. I remember all the infomercials about it and kept thinking there has to be a hidden charge, or it can't work that easily. So I went to my local Radio Shack and talked to the sales rep there. She said that the only complaint is that if the power is off on your computer it will go to voicemail, and there isn't always a local number available. I thought okay I keep my computer on all the time so no problem there, and everyone I know has a cell phone, so the local/long distance wont matter. So I decided to purchase it. I got it home plugged it in , and followed the on screen prompts, I got he same area code as mine for a number, just a different city.. no problem! It was VERY easy to set up, and I had service within minutes! I have been using it now for about a month and it is awesome! I forward all my cell phone calls to my magic jack and I have no problems what so ever!!! I can't believe I actually love something I was so skeptical about!!! This is a wonderful product!!.. By the time my house is paid off I will have saved well over $10,000.00 on phone service! Thank you so much to the creators of Magic Jack!"

"The key to using MagicJack without any problems is to research information on it first to decide whether it's right for you *and* whether it will work for you. It's not really as easy as 1-2-3 nor will it work magically despite its name. You need to exceed its miminum system requirements, have high speed internet service (like cable), and YES, your PC has to be on with your internet connection available for Magicjack to work. But for $20 a year (initially cost is $39.95 for the Magicjack with 1 year phone service), to me, Magicjack is a great product which provides free unlimited long distance across the country and local phone service. However, Magicjack should not be your only phone service because if your electricity or internet connection goes out, Magicjack won't work. At least also have use of a cell phone service. "

"I'm an IT professional in computer consulting business. I can safely say that Magic Jack works very well as it's supposed to. I own MagicJack for 3 years now. It's a great device however there is really nothing fancy about it. I see many negative comments and I can 100% concluded that if it does not work for you, it's your equipment or computer issue. MagicJack really just need 3 things to work: 1. a decent Windows (or Mac) computer that was manufactured around or after 2005 (which should have USB port, and has adequate CPU speed.) 2. that computer has Internet connection with adequate network speed. 3. a regular home telephone set Most people whose MagicJack does not work definitely has problem in #1 or #2, in that order. The company is definitely legit, otherwise RadioShack, Best Buy, Amazon.com, etc. won't sell it and NY Time, Washington Post, etc. won't praise it."
